That Volvo is investing more and more in electric vehicles is nothing new. By 2030, the manufacturer must stop producing models with internal combustion engines – including hybrids. Eight years may seem like a short time for all of these changes, but the brand never ceases to amaze and is once again at the forefront with the launch of the Volvo XC40 Recharge Plus P6, an electric SUV that is competitively priced in its segment.

What’s in the XC40 Recharge Plus P6?

The new electric version of Volvo has only a front electric motor – 231 hp. and 33.7 kgf of torque – rather than two for each axle, as in the P8 and C40. Thus, the thrust of the Recharge Plus P6 is front, unlike the other two models.

The XC40 Plus P6 electric motor is called “Single Electric”, it has a power of 234 hp. and a torque of 33.7 kgf. The difference between the new model is also in batteries 70 kWh less than that of the XC40 Recharge P8 – however, the manufacturer guarantees that they have the same autonomy.

The range of the cheapest model is up to 420 km on a full charge, which is more than the other two models, which have 418 km.

Electric and affordable SUV

One of the main innovations in this new model is the design: the SUV has a new front end, bumper and wheels with an exclusive design.

The front grille now has no overlapping edges; the headlights have a triangular shape – the same as the C40, and the bumper has become more sporty. Even the front end will be adopted in next year’s most powerful model. The interior of the XC40 Plus P6 has a C40-specific blue finish inspired by Scandinavian glaciers, and there is no leather on the interior.

Technology and security remain

Tech enthusiasts can be sure that the model also has an adaptive autopilot; autonomous emergency braking; panoramic sunroof with touch control; traffic sign reader and digital dashboard.

The Volvo XC40 Recharge Plus P6 also has a Google system with pre-installed apps and over-the-air updates. The car has Google Maps integration, Spotify compatibility and many other tools.
