A judge suspects that the contract that awarded Saudi Arabia the Super Cup may have entailed a “payment in kind to” its then-president. Luis Rubialesand other management positions involving the transfer of land in this country “for the subsequent management of the hotel business.”

This is stated in the order issued yesterday by the head of the investigative court No. 4 of Majadahonda (Madrid), which EFE had access to on Tuesday, in which it imposes on Rubiales the obligation to appear in court every month and orders him to request permission every time you want to leave the country .

The judge found that these measures ensured Rubiales’ presence and saw “no reason” to conclude that “it could interfere with the investigation.” Rubiales’ defense, for its part, argued that he had roots in Spain and that he had always been at the disposal of justice.

Despite the version that Rubiales presented to the court, where he denied that he took “a cent” from the Federation or received commissions for the Super Cup contract, the judge continues to suspect that the said contract entailed, in addition to the 40 million euros, RFEF, payments in kind to the former president , “other leadership positions” and “people associated” with the Federation.

“No commission in kind or anything other than in the contract was agreed,” Rubiales assured yesterday, according to what legal sources told EFE, during a speech that lasted more than four hours.

This contract, executed on 11 September 2019 between RFEF, Kosmos Global Holding, owned by former Blaugrana player Gerard Pique, and the Saudi Arabian company Sela, also provided for the payment of a “success bonus to the commissioner (Cosmos)”. agreed) in the amount of 3 million euros.”

The judge is suspicious of the “guarantor position” that the RFEF took towards Cosmos, considering this success bonus to be “the most important obligation of the agreement”, while they reserved the right to terminate the contract, which “to the Federation represented income of approximately 40 million euros for the period 2020-2029 in the face of an economic situation typical of the private sector of the agreement between Kosmos and Sela.”

And the judge adds that “shortly after the agreement was signed,” Rubiales formed a network of companies, some of which were involved in rental properties.

Rubiales in his statement assured that the RFEF never discussed the terms of the Cosmos with the Saudi company, but only the money that would go to the Federation, and denied that he asked Pique to transfer part of the commission to the federal entity, according to sources consulted. .

According to them, it was Kosmos who proposed the clause on their commission to ensure that Sela would pay them, and the RFEF said that they would not pay “a single cent to the intermediary.”

He denied there was any “conspiracy” or that RFEF had approached Cosmos to reach an agreement, but rather, he said, it was the company that called them to propose the Saudi company and said it was “very clean” and According to sources, the money that the Federation earned from this contract “saved football, because football would have died in a pandemic.”

The judge also points out in his ruling the hiring on behalf of Rubiales of the company Gruconsa, which carried out work at the La Cartuja stadium, which is also being investigated, and the integration of Rubiales into the corporate structure of his friend, former footballer Francisco Javier Martin Alcaide, Nene, who is being investigated. whether he received payments from this company related to the employment of RFEF.
