First Lady Michele Bolsonaro and Senator-elect Damares Alves are running a nationwide travel program that aims to visit all capitals before the eve of the second round. The “Women’s Caravan,” as it is called, aims to reduce the rejection of President Jair Bolsonaro from the female electorate.
The caravan will be in Florianopolis next Monday (24) at 13:00, at Igreja Mais de Cristo, in the Capoeiras area. The event is being coordinated by Deputy Governor and Federal MP-elect Daniela Reiner (LP).
This wandering through the capitals is aimed at deconstructing the war of narratives against a president who does not like women and does not like the most humble and needy.
Support for the campaign lies in the fact that Bolsonaro was the president who did the most for women in Brazilian history. Michelle also wants to strengthen the campaign’s commitment to conservative and Christian values - both she and Damares have influence in the evangelical segment.
The Northeast region was the first target of the caravan due to the high rejection rate of the president and the high number of votes for the PT candidate. In three days, the first lady traveled to 11 cities in all the northeastern states.
Another aspect of the stronger presence of the first lady, former ministers, elected senators and local leaders in Brazil is Bolsonaro’s strategy to expand the electoral base.
The campaign aims to reduce abstentions, believing that if it weren’t for the absentees, he would have at least won the first round. The idea is to encourage political leaders to get involved in the campaign.
Michel and Damares repeated in the caravan that everyone who participates in the rallies should leave from there, “multiplying the votes.”
