Law 14,455 on the establishment of health and tourism lotteries was authorized by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The idea behind the measure, published this Thursday (22) in the Official Gazette, is to increase the budget for these sectors.
According to the text, games can be created in which players try to guess the numbers that will come up, as in Mega-Sena, and the result of sports competitions, as in the case of Loteca.
Regardless of which games are created, part of the funds raised through the Health Lottery will go to the FNS (National Health Fund) and Embratur (Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion), in the case of the Tourist Lottery.
Profits channeled to FNS will be used to purchase funds, materials and equipment for the treatment and fight against Covid-19 in Brazil.
The amounts earmarked for Embratur will help tourism recover in the post-pandemic period, for example, to carry out lending operations for companies in the sector.
