To help voters find candidates that match their ideas and interests, Grupo ND on Friday (02) launched the “electoral selection” tool, which is part of the Voto+ platform for coverage of this year’s elections.

On the site, voters can answer questions about various topics with their consent and, in the end, they will be assigned the name of the candidate for the government of Santa Catarina that best suits their ideas.

The idea is simple: as if it were a political Tinder, the system helps voters find candidates they “match” with, meaning that their answers are as close as possible.

To do this, a database was created that stores the candidates’ responses to the state government on behavioral, economic and political issues.

When entering the “electoral match”, a citizen receives the same questions, and the answers will be compared with the answers of all candidates for governor.

For each question, the voter can answer whether they fully agree, partially agree, partially disagree, or completely disagree. The result is presented on the affinity scale at the end of the test.

“Questions posed to candidates will be available on this voting platform for voters. And then, in the end, when he finishes voting, he will form an “electoral match.” In other words, your answers make you look very much like a gubernatorial candidate,” said Diogo Masaneiro, Digital Content Manager at Grupo ND.

“Voters will be able to compare their preferences with those of candidates to see which candidate they sympathize with,” Masaneiro said.

According to Vanessa da Rocha, manager of the NDI (Centre for Data and Investigative Journalism) at Grupo ND, the tool connects voters with candidate preferences. “The result will give the candidate’s compatibility index,” he said.

Other initiatives

In addition to the election match that helps voters choose the next governor, there are other Grupo ND initiatives aimed at this year’s elections.

The voter from Santa Catarina will have another novelty on the ND+ portal: the Voto+ platform offers Internet users all available information about the profiles of candidates for the state government, the Senate and the President of the Republic.

The data was collected from the TSE (Higher Electoral Court) candidate distribution system and information received from candidates by the NDI team.

Candidates for state and federation MPs will have simplified information with data provided by the Electoral Court.

The ND Group platform, focused on the 2022 elections, is supported by Facisc (Federation of Santa Catarina Business Associations), Fiesc (Federation of Industry of the State of Santa Catarina) and Fecam (Federation of Municipalities of Santa Catarina).
