At this Saturday’s convention (30), PSOL decided to nominate Councilor Afranio Bopre of Florianopolis as a candidate for the Senate and not nominate a candidate for the government of South Carolina. At the same time, the party continues negotiations with the Democratic Front. The proposal is that Afranio also be a candidate for the Senate along with PSB’s Dario Berger.

PSOL has been among the parties of the so-called “Democratic Front” since the beginning of the negotiations and has threatened to remain out of the composition after the senate seat is determined for the PSB. On the agenda is also the possibility of nominating a single candidate for the Senate in case of disagreement with the Front.
This is the first time that PSOL has not put forward its candidacy for government since it began running in state elections. The convention took place together with REDE Sustentabilidade, which has a party federation with PSOL.
“We think a lot about these elections. The anti-leftist wave that affected us so much in 2018 is passing, and what we see now is the rise of anti-Bolsonarianism, opening up a huge space for our political field,” analyzes PSOL President in Joinville Guilherme Luis Weiler. . The calculation, he said, is that PSOL can win at least one seat from Alesk, as well as increase the Santa Catarina federal bench.
The party must nominate 22 state candidates and another 10 federal candidates.
