The brutal murder of a three-month-old baby confirmed this Thursday (age 21) in Cásador, Santa Catarina’s Midwest, was revealed by Gov. Carlos Moises via video. The civil police suspect that the crime was committed by a couple of nannies, whose preventive detention has already been issued by the court.
Fake news has circulated on social media linking the death to the alleged lack of air travel. None of this happened, according to the state government. At the time of transportation, there were two aircraft available, but the child’s health condition required that transportation be carried out by ground transport.
The situation was denied by Governor Carlos Moises. “The murder of a three-month-old baby causes unimaginable pain. This is a cowardly act. Inhuman. And as if that pain wasn’t enough, some people manage to sink even deeper into the pit of lack of empathy and compassion. It is a lie, it is fake news that they are talking about the lack of medical care for this child,” he said.
Explaining that “the child could not fly due to the serious condition in which he was,” the governor also stated that “never once did the health authorities request the assistance of government aircraft.”
“Respect the mourning of this Santa Catarina family. I ask God to watch over them at this difficult time,” Moises said.
