State MP Ana Campagnolo of the PL has said via her social media that she wants the CPI in the Legislative Assembly of Santa Catarina to investigate the circumstances of the abortion of an 11-year-old girl who was a victim of rape. The Federal Ministry of Public Information confirmed that the procedure was carried out on Wednesday evening. Pregnancy reached 29 weeks. 14 signatures are required to open a CPI.
The MP counts, in addition to her own vote, for now five MPs committed to signing: Jessie Lopez, from the PL, Ismael dos Santos, from the PSD, Kennedy Nunez, from the PTB, Jair Miotto, from União Brasil and Bruno Souza from Novo.
The controversy surrounding the girl’s pregnancy arose after the publication of the article by the Interception website in partnership with Catarinas. The initial report is that the mother would have gone to the university hospital in Florianopolis, but the institution did not because the pregnancy was already at 22 weeks at the time.
The family went to court, which excluded the girl from family life and at first did not sanction the procedure. After the aftermath, the Federal Public Ministry recommended that the hospital have an abortion this week.
Also during the week there was new information on the case. That the rape suspect is a 13-year-old boy who lives with a girl in his house.
