Civil servants of Sideropolis, in the south of Santa Catarina, this Monday (20) are protesting against wage adjustments. The action takes place in front of the city’s Mother Church and continues throughout the day. City Hall has an injunction that prohibits interruption of public roads and services in the municipality by protesters (check below).

“There is quite a bit of outrage among the servers. They have not even received inflation compensation for three years, and the mayor is only offering 15.61%, although he has a lot of cash in his pocket,” says Siserp (Union of Municipal Civil Servants) chairman Juselia Vargas.

According to her, representatives of Siserp were on Wednesday (15) at the Sideropolis city council to discuss this issue, and “it has been proven that the city hall is able to skip inflation,” but there was no agreement.

“The Magisterium no longer received Fundeb [Fundo de Manutenção e Desenvolvimento da Educação Básica] 2020, which amounted to 12.84%. Now another 33.24%. Thus, this is a loss, which in total is more than 45%, ”emphasizes Huselia. Other servers have a 24% loss in wages, according to the union.

The year will end with a Fundeb fundraiser of around R$8 million. Sideropolis City Hall received an injunction in court on Friday (17) to keep services and public roads in the city from being interrupted by the demonstration.

The decision also specifies that servers must be located at least 500 meters from public buildings, including schools and medical facilities.

In addition, the regulation provides for an 80 per cent contingent of employees in each location where the main activities are carried out, especially in the field of education and health.

In case of non-compliance, there is a fine of 30,000 reais for each item, in addition, under the threat of police intervention.
