President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) used the internet to ironically retaliate against criticism made by American actor Mark Ruffalo, the Hulk’s interpreter, this Thursday (9).
The chief executive is in Los Angeles, USA, to attend the IX Summit of the Americas, and has been criticized by Ruffalo, who said that the Brazilian president “does not respect democracy and constantly threatens a coup.” Information taken from the portal R7.
In response, the Planalto executive called the actor “Mark Raffles” and, in a series of posts written in English, suggested that the actor had never read the Brazilian Constitution. Bolsonaro also drew an analogy between movie characters and democracy.
“I’m sure you’ve never read the Brazilian Constitution, but I can assure you that it’s nothing but complicated Hulk scripts that you need to remember: ‘AHGFRR’. Read on and you will find that I not only respect but defend the Brazilian rule of law,” the President of Brazil replied.
“To put it simply: if Captain America is elected by more than 55 million people, and Thanos, who is a foreigner and knows nothing about the United States, is trying to interfere in American territory or in the American electoral process, then it is Thanos, not a Captain who does not respect democracy” , he wrote, referring to the villain from the comic book series.
Bolsonaro also said the left wants to “control the press, limit freedom of expression, censor the internet and financially support dictatorships like Cuba and Venezuela” and ended a series of posts criticizing Ruffalo’s role in cinemas.
“The original Hulk was much cooler. He didn’t need a computer to look strong, and he really understood something about nature.”
This is not the first time Ruffalo has criticized the Brazilian president online. He was one of the artists who supported calls for youth to be stripped of their voter registration.
He shared a post by singer Anitta on the matter and said the measure was important for “beating Bolsonaro”.
“In order to defeat Bolsonaro, Brazilians aged 16 and 17 must register for the upcoming elections. They have until May 4 for this,” he wrote on Twitter at the time.
