During the Russian army’s invasion of Ukraine, Brazilian soldier André Hac Bahi, who served as a volunteer in the Ukrainian forces, was killed during the battle, three of his comrades reported on social media. Baja could become the first Brazilian to die in the war in Ukraine.
On his Instagram account, Andre Kirvaitis, a fellow Brazilian in the war, posted a tribute to the combatant with a photo next to him.

Itamaraty said in a statement that the Brazilian embassy in Kyiv is still looking for a location. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs currently does not have confirmation of the possible death of a Brazilian citizen on the territory of Ukraine,” the R7 note says.
In addition, Itamaraty warned that he “continues to strongly advise Brazilians not to travel to Ukraine until there are sufficient security conditions in the country.”
