Pet and cat guardian Felipe Cerantola Pereira shared footage of one of Filo’s jealousy “attacks” that happens every time someone tries to pet Caramelo.
A man has many animals on his farm in the municipality of Descalvado in Sao Paulo. But it’s the unusual friendship between the maritaka and the cat, who Felipe says grew up together, that has garnered the most attention online.
Philo, however, is very jealous of his feline friend and does not allow anyone to get close to him, not even his guardian.
In the video shared by Felipe, the bird can be seen “attacking” him with its beaks every time he approaches and tries to pet Caramelo. Moreover, the maritaka laughs at the situation, showing that she is a true protector.
In the post, several internet users raved about the unusual friendship between the animals, especially Philo’s “jealous attack.”
“Impossible love has won,” one internet user commented. “Hands off! My cat!!,” joked one of the users.

Are Maritakes usually jealous?
According to the Bird Conservation Coalition, maritakas tend to be territorial, but that doesn’t mean they are jealous like humans.
Maritaki and parrots can become overprotective when it comes to their territory or even their mate, especially during breeding season.
They may also make sounds in an attempt to ward off predators that get too close to the nest or person or animal they are attached to.
