Javier Miley, President of Argentina, surprised everyone at his inauguration last Sunday (10) by displaying a symbolic presidential relay. Unlike the previous ones, which featured the Argentine coat of arms, this piece features five dogs, sculpted from 900 sterling silver and 18k gold.
Miley has five cloned dogs
The five mastiff dogs that were honored by Javier Miley on his stick have quite an interesting history. According to The New York Times, the pets were created in a laboratory in New York (USA) and are genetic copies, that is, clones of Miley’s old dog named Conan – which, in fact, is the name of one of the new mastiffs.
The other four dogs are named after their most respected economists: Milton, named after Milton Friedman; Murray, named after Murray Rothbard; and Robert and Lucas, named after Robert Lucas.
According to the NYT, the dog’s original name is an homage to the character Conan from the movie Conan the Barbarian. The animal in question will be an important part of the ruler’s past.
Miley says the dog saved his life and kept him company during many Christmases he spent alone when he felt abandoned by others.
