After a long wait, Uber has officially announced a new service for dog and cat owners: Uber Pet. The new method was confirmed on Monday (11) and is initially being tested in Curitiba, Paraná state.

According to the company, trips are possible only in the presence of a tutor and by appointment at least 30 minutes in advance. Additionally, it is limited to one animal only and is exclusive to dogs and cats.

Receiving pet transport requests is optional for driver partners and all are flagged in the app before the driver accepts the request. You must also review and accept the terms and conditions of this modality.

For people who need a guide dog, nothing will change since they are considered service animals and not pets. Passengers can request a ride at no additional cost and without the need for advance booking, which is guaranteed by law.

To book a trip with a pet, simply request pet travel. Next, you need to select the day and time of departure.

The company recommends transporting animals in bags or travel boxes, and for the safety of passengers, it is ideal that animals also have collars and muzzles.

To protect the car, it is necessary to use towels for the seat. When using the service, guardians are responsible for supervising their pets and adhering to sporting rules.

Does 99 dogs accept?

As with its competitors, 99 allows pets, and drivers have the right to accept or not. Passengers must be informed via chat what will happen to their four-legged companion and what size it will be.

Guardians must provide appropriate items for the safe movement of the pet, which can be a transport box, bag or car seat. Passengers are also responsible for the cleanliness and smell of the vehicle. Transporting animals unaccompanied or in 99Moto mode is not permitted.

For assistance dog transportation, the company advises users with disabilities to notify the driver of their needs, and if the trip cannot be completed, the passenger should cancel the trip, contact the Help Center when submitting the application and request a cancellation fee.
