A dog got its head stuck in a plastic container of cheese puffs and was rescued several days later. The rescue team received several calls reporting an unusual situation in which the animal found itself.
The incident took place in Michigan, USA, and an unexpected incident occurred while rescuing the dog. The team tried to attract the dog’s attention with food, but because the pot was glued to his head, he couldn’t smell the food.
Tom Walsh, founder of The Last Stop Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, commented to The Dodo about the situation the dog went through.
“He couldn’t drink, he couldn’t eat, and he wasn’t getting enough oxygen because the bowl was pressing too tightly against his head. The team spent three days there, day and night, tracking him to determine his location.”
The animal wandered around the area and lost strength. However, lack of food was not the only concern of the people trying to help him.
“There are coyotes in the area and he had no way to protect himself. The weaker he got, the more bait he became,” commented Walsh.
The dog was found and received a new name
The dog was rescued by one of the volunteers, who took him to remove the pot from his head. The animal was named Cheeto and is being cared for by Walsh and his wife.
They believe the dog has guardians and would like to be reunited, but until that happens they will continue to care for the animal.
