Ribeirinhos came across a giant anaconda on a riverbank in the Pantanal protecting 99 baby anacondas. “Flagra” was published on the TV Câmera Nervosa channel on YouTube. Watch the full video at the end of the report.
The snake lies peacefully under the Pantanal sun. The little ones are around the giant anaconda, forming a nest. In fact, “Niño de serpent” is a derogatory expression in Brazil. But in this case, the union cannot but be considered phenomenal.
“She chose an area full of weeds to stay on top. The river flooded, and she chose a safe bush,” explains the channel’s presenter.
“Then the puppies come out and they each go to different places in their lives.” This species is an excellent fisherman and therefore does very well in flooded areas.

Find out how anaconda reproduces
According to the Sao Paulo Aquarium, anacondas reach sexual maturity at 4 years. Autumn is the time of year that species choose to mate from year to year. The green anaconda requires multiple partners, which is called polyandrous reproduction.
“Gestation lasts about 7 months and a litter can produce between 20 and 40 puppies. Puppies are born fully developed and independent,” the institution emphasizes. The species lives for about 30 years.
