One scene caught the attention of the people of Sira, in western Santa Catarina. 17-year-old Barbara Alicia Rodrigues dos Santos recorded an exotic animal running in front of her house.
Barbara told a reporter that she saw a “strange” animal running down the street. “I realized he was lost and ran to record his mobile phone number.”
When the female reading deer passed in front of Barbara’s house again, she was able to record it. “My dogs started barking so I went outside, I was lucky, I thought I wouldn’t be able to record.”
Chital was spotted in the San Daniel area. “The area is full of trees, I think he must have gotten scared and walked past, wanting to find his place.”
The animal ran away and disappeared, but was captured and moved by the teenager during the day. “I can’t believe I was able to capture this moment, I was the only person to do it. It was unforgettable”.
Chital deer is an exotic animal of Brazil:
Biologist Jackson Preuss spoke with no date+ and explained that this animal is not native to Brazil, but was introduced into the national territory and can be found in Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.
The species known as chital deer, or Axis axisgrows in the forests of Asian countries such as India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Pakistan.
In the 1930s, it was introduced to Argentina and Uruguay because it was considered an “attractive” animal for hunters. He has horns and a huge body. Another striking feature is the white spots.
Decades later, this species of deer began to be observed in Brazil. Jackson was responsible for recording the first individual of this species in Santa Catarina.
A biologist studying the Santa Catarina biome reports that the presence of this exotic animal in Brazil’s natural environment is causing concern.
“These animals compete for food with native species, which, because they are large animals, cause unequal competition and can cause ecological imbalance,” Jackson adds.
