Have you ever seen a snake swallow a frog whole? This scene was recorded by an Instagram channel showing nature in all its beauty and cruelty. The video, which has already amassed over 100,000 views, shows a tiger keel snake, one of the most dangerous in Japan, slowly devouring a frog, kicking the snake in the throat.
Video author Brian Sebastian explained that this snake has the uncanny ability to store toad toxins in a gland in its neck. This gland serves as a warning to other predators wishing to attack the snake. In addition, the snake can use toxins to protect itself from possible threats.
The toad tried, but it didn’t work…
The video received mixed reactions from netizens. Some were impressed by the snake’s digestive ability, others took pity on the baby, and some joked about the situation.
“It’s amazing how a snake’s digestive system can filter the toxin, store it, and then use it. Crazy thing,” commented one user. Toad: “Well, you’re probably wondering how I got here?” another said.
