A woman survived 90 minutes of vicious and continuous crocodile attacks in Indonesia. She would have been caught by an animal while taking water in a stream.
Falmira de Jesus, 38, lives in Indonesia, and on July 27 she was lucky enough to escape quickly after being attacked by a crocodile that haunted her workplace.
The reptile waited for the right moment when the woman went to the stream near the place of work to draw water, bit her on the leg and dragged her into the water, where the predator has an advantage in battles.
The victim screamed, and other work colleagues came to the rescue and beat the animal with sticks.
The fight lasted about 90 minutes. According to eyewitnesses, the crocodile could not completely drag her to the bottom of the lake, which made her colleagues hope to win that fight and continued to strike.
After so much effort, the crocodile gave up and one of his colleagues managed to save Falmyra.
“I was in the hospital and I still see him in my mind and feel him in my body,” Falmira said in an interview with the Indonesian newspaper Tribun Banten.
According to the medical report, the victim had deep stab wounds to his right thigh and lower leg, as well as his right arm.
crocodiles are invading
Indonesian conservation activists believe that crocodiles are encroaching on areas near villages due to the impact on the animals’ natural habitats.
Activities such as rampant fishing reduce the natural food supply for these reptiles, which, combined with habitat loss due to the encroachment of coastal farms, causes crocodiles to be driven further inland from villages.
In addition, since residents often use the rivers for swimming and fishing, the likelihood of new attacks has increased.
