Video of two real coral snakes allegedly having an “acute relationship” mating on a rural road in Iraseminha, in the Far West of Santa Catarina.
Mating or fighting?
According to biologist, researcher and Unoesc (University of the West of Santa Catarina) professor Jackson Preis, these “frantic movements” between snakes are actually a fight between two males, despite the fact that the scene is very similar to mating.
He explained that the intention of the snakes pushing each other upside down was to show their superiority in that place. In addition, Preuss points out that this also occurs among other coral snakes.
