About 20 wild boars were killed after irregular breeding was discovered on the Laranheira Line in the interior of the municipality of Cásador in the Midwest of Santa Catarina. The complaint was filed with the PMA (Military Environmental Police), CIDASC (Santa Catarina Integrated Agricultural Development Company) and IMA (Institute for the Environment).
A team from the PMA, with a team of veterinarians, inspected two sites where several violations were identified.
According to the PMA, two wild boars and a domestic pig were raised on the first farm inspected. In addition to animals, an underground slaughterhouse has been revealed.
Several packages of meat of unknown origin were found. According to the environmental military police, they were ready for sale. A real parrot was still found in captivity on the property without permission.
12-gauge cartridges, several packages of gunpowder, a box of fuses and an automatic reloader were also seized on the spot.

On the second farm examined, experts found more than 20 wild boars in the paddock. The animals were slaughtered by CIDASC professionals and the most aggressive ones were killed by legal species controllers. Civilian police officers from the TsAOAGRO (Center for Operational Support to Combat Crimes Against Agribusiness) were also on site.
Materials seized by CIDASC, as well as the carcasses of slaughtered animals, were dumped in a landfill. A bucket from the city of Cásador helped with transportation.

Boars are prohibited by law
The PMA indicates that wild boars and their crosses (boar-pig) are prohibited by law. In addition to the fine, this is a crime and the animals must be disposed of for health reasons.
The perpetrators were identified and did not provide permission to operate. They will face administrative and criminal charges, the Ecological Police said.
“We advise the rural population not to engage in this activity without the guidance of a competent environmental agency. If in doubt, contact CIDASC in your area. In addition to diseases, exotic species destroy fauna and flora,” the PMA said.
