A camera set up in the Balule Game Reserve in South Africa caught an elephant scaring a lioness who was resting next to a water source, enjoying the warmth and peace of the thickets.
The video shows how the elephant approaches the fountain, and the lioness quickly gets to her feet after hearing the steps of the giant. She is not easily intimidated, but she knows better than to mess with a giant enemy.
The lioness tried to retreat, but it was too late. The elephant trumpeted loudly and approached the lioness, then began to draw water from the well. After taking a few sips, he turned to her and splashed water, sending the lioness to flight.
Elephants may not be on the menu for lions, but that doesn’t mean they tolerate big cats, as they pose a threat to newborn elephants.
The lioness was caught off guard, not knowing how to react. She had never been scolded by an elephant before. The elephant kept splashing water to let the lioness know she was not welcome.
After that, the lioness decided that it was better to leave and find another place to rest. Trail cameras allow viewers from all over the world to virtually connect with Africa.
