Have you ever thought about running a pest control to remove a supposedly dead animal from behind the wall of your house and stumble upon a surprise? This is what happened to a family in California, in the United States.
When technician Nick Castro made a small cut in the wall of the house, hundreds of walnut acorns began to fall from the wall. “Acorns are dried fruits found on trees belonging to the oak family, such as oak itself, holm oak and cork oak. They look like hazelnuts, but have a more elongated appearance. It seemed that the more I pulled, the more they came, ”said the man in a report for the American newspaper The Washington Post.
The most curious thing is that around the man noticed that there are woodpeckers known for making holes in trees, houses and buildings. The collected walnuts filled eight trash bags with a total weight of 300 kg.
Studies show that these animals have a habit of storing hundreds of acorns in sheltered areas to survive the winter, as females need to eat well during this period.
The employee said that probably while they were storing food, a few acorns must have fallen between the walls. He believes that, judging by the numbers, the animals must have spent 2 to 5 winters indoors protecting themselves.
