A 43-year-old penguin meets a companion 30 years younger at the Metro Richmond Zoo in Virginia, USA. Called an alien, she is the oldest living animal of her kind on Earth.
Typically, African penguins live between 15 and 20 years, more than double the ET rate. Her long journey in life made her a widow twice after the deaths of Melvin and Seldon.
In an interview with the Washington Post, the alien caretakers explained that their incredible genes associated with a good quality of life made the penguin a real record holder.
At the age of 43, the penguin took advantage of a date by taking a dip in a private pool. As with any good party, food is indispensable, and ET was honored with an ice and capelin cake.
Being the oldest in the world also has its drawbacks. According to the zookeeper, other penguins began to attack the alien, who, along with her boyfriend Einstein, was taken to an exclusive place for the two lovebirds.
Although African penguins are monogamous, the alien allowed himself to live and date several partners with whom he could share many stories over four decades.
“She and Einstein are very attached to each other and like to spend a lot of time together,” zoo officials say.
