Not only staging major events and weddings, but also a strong commitment to teaching. Roberta Torresan is at the forefront of the development and growth of his profession. Specializing in offsite weddings, she founded and runs Wedding Planners Pro, the first wedding business school in Italy. Let’s get to know her better in this interview where she talks about the importance of training before and during her career as a wedding planner.
What should definitely be missed when training a budding wedding planner?
Marketing in the first place, because if you don’t know how to make yourself the chosen spouse, your skill as a planner is only one of your potential qualities. Then all other skills related to business management cannot be missed. This is where you need to start, remembering that training is not a one-time investment. My entire team and I dedicate time and resources to updating and learning every year.
If you had to choose a keyword to describe the wedding planner profession to a group of your students, what would it be?
The word PLANNER speaks for itself. He says that we are primarily organizers and designers, not installers or decorators. To be a good planner, you need to work hard on your skills, so cheating is absolutely impossible. If you are not prepared, it will eventually show in the results, and there is a risk of causing serious damage to those who trusted you.
We often talk about soft skills, what do you think are required to become a wedding planner?
Skills alone are not enough because the sector is very competitive and results don’t come at the snap of a finger. In my opinion, you make the difference with motivation, perseverance and courage.
