Users of the SUS (Unified Health System) in Joinville, in the north of Santa Catarina, will be able to check the list of medicines available in the city on the website. The law defining the publication of the list was approved by Mayor Adriano Silva (Novo) this Monday (18).
The City of Joinville must now post on the Transparency Portal a list of the medicines available in the municipal health network, as well as indicate the locations where an updated supply of medicines is available.
The municipality must also publish a list of missing drugs with expected receipt. Law No. 9560 also specifies that information must be updated weekly.
Draft drug list vetoed
A proposal that would make drug information advertising mandatory was approved last Thursday (14) by the Joinville City Council. However, the project has been discussed in the Legislative Assembly since 2022, but was vetoed by the mayor in September.
Council members supported Adriano Silva’s veto, taking into account the justification that the text that reached the mayor contained an error. At the time, the text said data updates should be “daily” rather than “weekly” as parliamentarians had approved.
After the error was corrected, the proposal was again approved and sanctioned. According to the mayor’s office, the start date for distributing information about the drugs is not yet known, and the health department will work to plan the implementation of the strategy.
