The municipality of Joinville received a certificate from the Ministry of Health for its work in treating tuberculosis. The city in the north of Santa Catarina exceeded the target in three indicators, certificates were issued by the Ministry of Health and the information was published this Monday (11).
“The awards reflect the efforts of the teams and the development of various activities to ensure early and timely diagnosis of tuberculosis in the municipality,” says Health Department Executive Director Douglas Calheiros Machado.

According to the mayor’s office, in 2022 the municipality achieved 100% success in treating new cases of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis and rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis. The target set by the Ministry of Health was at least 77.5%.
According to laboratory confirmation of examined contacts of new cases of pulmonary tuberculosis in 2022, the city reached an indicator of 97.10% against the indicator established by the ministry of 90%.
For cases with blank closures ignored or moved from January to June 2022, Joinville’s result was 0%, exceeding the target of 5% or less.
