SAE and Red December:
SAE is the Specialist HIV/AIDS Service. The service is located next to the Municipal Clinic and is a support service for 36 municipalities in the region.
The site provides care and monitoring for examination of children exposed to HIV through vertical transmission (from mother to child); Infectious disease consultations for outpatients referred to by SISREG.
In addition, post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is evaluated and recommended in cases of sexual assault, occupational exposure, and consensual sexual relationships in which condoms were not used.
SAE employs a multidisciplinary team from medicine, nursing, pharmacy, psychology and social care.
Persons with HIV/AIDS are provided with individual services and group work in addition to company/institutional STI services with an emphasis on prevention.
