Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) has announced a recall of 2.2 million bottles of apple-flavored Cereser cider and ordered the sale and distribution of the drink to be suspended.

The measure was taken last Friday (29) due to the possibility of the drink containing small pieces of glass, which, if swallowed, could cause cuts in the mouth or areas of the intestines.

According to Anvisa, CRS Brands Indústria de Comércio, the brand’s owner, began a voluntary collection of Cereser Sidra bottles on September 25 and informed the regulator. “Approximately 0.2% of the affected lots may have been affected by changes to containers during the bottling process, resulting in small glass fragments being introduced into the bottles,” Anvisa said.

A total of 28 lots will be collected, manufactured on 07/22/2023 and from 08/16/2023 to 09/02/2023. Cereser Cider bottles are made of green glass and have a capacity of 660 ml.

Consumers who have purchased any of the participating lots should contact the company on 0800 702 2517 or email [email protected] to find out how to arrange delivery for collection or replacement.

To find out what batch the bottle is from, just check the top of the package. According to the company, the lot is printed in black on a gold seal.

A voluntary recall is carried out by the concerned company so that the product is immediately and effectively removed from the market. “CRS Brands apologizes for this incident and reiterates that quality and safety are its top commitments,” the statement said.
