Do you usually clean your makeup brushes? The TikTok profile showed internet users the amount of fungus and bacteria that can build up on sponges and makeup brushes.
The post is only 29 seconds long, but as of Monday morning it has already amassed over 200,000 likes and 1.9 million views (28).
The footage shows the remnants of the sponge and brush. They are placed in a Petri dish and then yellowish dots can be observed.
The profile shows that some researchers have found that brushes may contain more bacteria than toilet bowls. “Dead skin, dirt and grease coat every fiber, creating a breeding ground for bacteria. All this is rubbed into the skin and into the pores. That’s why people get infections, conjunctivitis and even acne,” he says.
The profile thus indicates that regular cleaning is critical. “Makeup brush cleaner can make the process easier by cleansing and drying instantly. Your skin is too precious to risk it.”
