João Silva, the son of host Faustán, took to social media this Sunday (27) to criticize and speculate about the transplant queue. After reporting on the successful operation that his father had, there were publications asking if there would be conditions for skipping the waiting list for a heart transplant.
In an Instagram story, he posted a post from Enzo Celulari, a friend of his, asking people to get information before judging.
“1 – We continue to pray for our dear Fausto’s speedy recovery after a successful transplant. 2. Check it out before judging,” wrote a friend.
The post also features comments by Dr. Pedro Carvalho on the organ donation system in Brazil.
Just seven days after joining the waiting list, Faustan received a heart suitable for his clinical condition.
With this news, many doubts have arisen about how the organ transplant process works and how the communicator was able to perform the operation in such a short period.
According to the Ministry of Health, the queue for obtaining an organ is formed on the basis of technical criteria:
- For example: blood type,
- weight and height compatibility,
- genetic compatibility and severity criteria for each organ that determine the order in which patients will be transplanted. As it was with Faustao.
The ministry explains that the list of transplants is unique and applies to both SUS patients and private network patients.
