The hospital expressed its opinion in a note and rejected the behavior, which it considered “inappropriate and criminal.”
“All legal action – criminal, ethical-administrative and civil-legal – is taken with the greatest possible severity, including the verification of collaborators who filmed or participated in this unfortunate scene without protecting the child,” the note says.

In addition, the unit emphasizes that “respect and humanization of newborns and women in labor have been a premise of its work for several decades. This single act cannot tarnish the image of the hundreds of professionals who work in the department and care for babies on a daily basis.”
The physiotherapist featured in the pictures and three other employees were fired for appearing in a video showing a woman doing a “little dance” with a newborn in her uniform pocket.
The MPSC (Ministry of State of Santa Catarina) has also received a complaint, which is in the process of being filed, and the 4th Prosecutor’s Office of Itajaí is due to analyze it.
