The new dengue vaccine will be available in Brazil from next week. A Kdengafrom the Takeda laboratory, was approved by Anvisa in March and is the first vaccine to protect against all serotypes.
According to the ABCVAC (Brazilian Association of Vaccine Clinics), the dose will be available in a private network and should cost between 350 and 500 reais at the discretion of the state. For example, in São Paulo, the maximum price approved by the CMED (Medicine Regulatory Chamber) was R$ 379.40.
In clinical studies, Qdenga has shown 80% protection. Unlike the only immunizer currently available, Dengvaxia, it can be given to those who have not yet had the disease.
The immunizer was released for individuals aged 4 to 60 years. The vaccination schedule includes two subcutaneous doses with an interval between them of three months.
