Only 29% of the population in the priority groups received the bivalent covid-19 vaccine in Florianopolis. The data comes from the Ministry of Health and counts up to this Friday night (18). Despite little commitment, the prefecture provides only one vaccination point this Saturday (19).

The only vaccination point will be the vaccination van in front of TICEN (Integrated Center Terminal) from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

In Florianópolis, all people aged 18 years and over, residents and employees of Ilp’s (long-term care facilities), healthcare workers, pregnant women and women in childbirth, immunocompromised people, people with permanent disabilities, quilombolas, employees of the prison system, and patients with comorbidities.

Despite the meager offer on Saturday, the Health Centers offer an immunizer throughout the week. There are also districts with extended unit hours. As recommended by the city hall, always check the schedule of each of the health centers.

The health centers in Vila Aparecida and Costa da Lagoa, Prainha, Barra da Lagoa and Coqueiros do not offer the vaccine.

What is a bivalent vaccine?

According to the official website of the Ministry of Health, the immunizer guarantees protection against the original strain that caused the first wave of the covid-19 pandemic and its variants, such as Omicron, currently common in the world. Immunization is given as a single dose and is considered more effective than monovalent vaccines.

The difference between the bivalent vaccine and those previously used in the country is that in addition to preventing the original strain of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the bivalent vaccine (manufactured by Pfizer) provides protection against the micron variant and its subvariants.
