An unusual incident occurred at the ESF (Family Health Strategy) Caixa d’Água, in Guaramirim, in the north of the state. At over 39 weeks pregnant, Elaine Ferreira de Castilla dos Santos, 28, did not have time to arrive at the maternity hospital to give birth to Luan Enrique on a mattress placed on the ESF floor.
“Because I had a lot of contractions, I couldn’t get on the stretcher, so they put a mat on the floor to make me more comfortable. Since the baby was almost born, it happened very quickly. I just lay down and the baby was born, ”the mother said. Delivery took place on April 10.
Father, 24-year-old Elias Leonardi, kept a close eye on everything. Elaine appreciated the work done by the team during the delivery. “At that time, we are a little scared, despite the pain. I’m afraid it won’t work out, but thank God everything went well, everything worked out, they did a great job, very quickly, really professionally. I am very grateful to John and the doctor,” he said.
John Kenned’s nurse Lima Leite, who took part in the delivery, said the patient arrived at the ward with a 7 cm dilatation and increasingly tight contractions.
Noticing unnoticeable bleeding, he contacted Samu to get the patient to the maternity ward, but there was no time.
Less than five minutes later, Luan was born strong and healthy. “It was a very peaceful and beautiful birth. He was born strong and soon fell on his mother’s lap, ”said the nurse. After the birth, a mobile unit from Samu took the family to the Jaragua Maternity Hospital, where the mother and child were examined and discharged on the same day.
In addition to John, Tais Moura Borille, a doctor, and Andreia Garcia, a nurse, also took part in the birth.
