There are three bed hospitals in the region that serve SUS: the Marieta Konder Bornhausen Hospital and Maternity Hospital in Itajai with 35 active beds, nine of which are neonatal; Pekeno-Anho Children’s Hospital, also in Itajai, with 14 active pediatric beds; and the Ruth Cardoso Municipal Hospital in Balneario Camboriu, with 16 beds, six of which are for newborns. Everything is fully booked.

In cases of overcrowding, CERIH (State Center for Hospitalization Regulation) is looking for a private network, renting beds to meet demand.
