The influenza vaccination campaign in Joinville, north of Santa Catarina, will start next Monday (10). The action takes place in the UBSF (Basic Family Health Units) as well as the municipality’s central immunization office.
According to Fabiana Almeida, executive director of the Department of Health, the influenza vaccine protects against three types of influenza. “This vaccine provides a high degree of protection. The more vaccinated the population, the lower the risk of getting sick and transmitting the disease,” he explains.
For vaccination, the Department of Health recommends that citizens present a vaccination card and an official photo ID. It is also necessary to provide proof of occupation in cases where the worker is part of the target audience.
The campaign aims to vaccinate children aged 6 months to 5 years, pregnant women and young mothers, indigenous peoples and healthcare workers. In addition, the insurance also covers senior citizens aged 60 and over, public and private school teachers, and people with non-communicable chronic diseases and other special clinical conditions.
Persons with permanent disabilities, members of the security and rescue forces, armed forces and truck drivers, as well as public road transport workers, port workers, prison workers, persons deprived of their liberty, as well as adolescents and young people, may also be vaccinated. aged 12 to 21 as part of social and educational activities.
UBSF is open Monday through Friday, excluding public holidays. Vaccine times for each location are available at joinville.sc.gov.br. The Central Immunization Room is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm at 172 Rua Abdon Batista, in the city centre.
