The Sant José de Joinville hospital in the north of Santa Catarina has opened an exclusive facility for the hospitalization of patients with dengue fever. There are 12 beds in total for category C or D patients.
According to the protocol of the Ministry of Health, these are cases with a greater severity or risk of developing the disease into a serious condition. For this reason, they need follow-up care in hospitals or emergency departments.
A multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses and technicians has been specially trained to care for dengue patients hospitalized in San Jose.

Symptoms

In these cases, patients should seek care at the main family health departments or at the Dengue Treatment Centre.
Patients with severe symptoms such as bleeding, severe pain, fainting, or confusion should seek emergency care (UPA) immediately.
