Following reports of waiting times of up to 11 hours at health departments in Joinville, another hospital in the city of Santa Catarina North issued a warning of overcrowding. This time it was the Bethesda Hospital, located in the north of the city.
According to the institution, the emergency department is designed for 150 patients per day. However, in recent weeks, demand has grown so much that last Monday (20) it reached 327 people, more than double the capacity.
“Due to the recent increase in dengue cases in the northern region, we are informing the public that we are unable to cope with the high demand recorded in March, which is causing significant queues in the emergency department,” Bethesda Hospital emphasized in a note.
City Hall announces establishment of Dengue Service Center
Faced with an increase in the number of symptomatic patients, the city government has announced the establishment of a Dengue Service Center due to open next Tuesday (28) at Unisociesc Campus Park, in Boa Vista (Rua Pref. Helmuth Fallgatter, 3333). .
On-site, symptomatic populations 15 years of age and older will receive care, including diagnosis, hydration, and treatment of patients with mild to moderate cases of dengue.
