This Monday (12) Florianópolis Municipal Secretariat of Health will host an HIV and AIDS Prevention Action from 09:00 to 17:00 in front of UPA Norte, on Rua Francisco Faustino Martins, in the north of the island.

The van will be parked in front of the medical station during the day. Activities will be carried out such as the dissemination of the A Hora É Agora project and testing and rapid response centers, rapid tests for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, as well as the assessment, indication and administration of pre-exposure prophylaxis. (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP).
Combined prophylaxis
Combination prevention is a set of strategies that use different approaches to fight HIV and other STIs.
These strategies can be structural, behavioral, and biomedical, and can be applied in ways that reach multiple audiences at the individual, social, community, and relationship levels.
HIV in Florianopolis
An estimated seven thousand people are living with HIV in Florianopolis. According to the Ministry of Health, from 500 to a thousand people have the virus and do not know about it.
About 6,000 people are taking HIV medications. Approximately 2,900 people are not infected with HIV but receive PrEP.
Florianopolis is one of the top three capitals in terms of HIV prevalence, meaning it can diagnose HIV before a person’s immune system is compromised.
