The purpose of the transfer is to enable the medical institution to acquire equipment and tools to expand the offer of surgeries, especially elective procedures, for SUS (Sistema Único de Saúde) users in the municipality.
Blumenau Mayor Mario Hildebrandt said the transfer would bring a real improvement in the lives of the population, with a positive impact on Blumenau’s health. “The queue for operations is one of the health problems, and this transfer to purchase equipment is very important for the city. We know that this is a challenge to overcome and we, within our capabilities as a municipality, will work to improve,” he stressed.
The Santo Antonio Hospital is responsible for 92% of the consultations done by SUS in the city, and according to Health Minister Marcelo Lanzarin, the investment will increase attendance.
“With this assistance, we believe that the potential increase in procedures for the population will be approximately 150 operations per month. Keeping in mind that HSA is the benchmark in very complex operations such as orthopedics and oncology,” he stressed.
The equipment purchase agreement is based on Law no. 9,256/2022. HSA General Manager Rafael Branco Bertuol thanked for the support and dedication to this resource, which will be allocated to the Santo Antonio Hospital. “This transfer will be extremely important for the construction of our 6th OR, further expanding the services Santo António Hospital provides to the community,” he said.
