Active cases of Covid-19 have increased by 94% in the last week in Santa Catarina, according to a study by Necat (Santa Catarina Economics Research Center) at UFSC (Federal University of Santa Catarina).
The data refers to November 12 and 18, when 4,433 residents were diagnosed with coronavirus. Active cases in Santa Catarina reach 6,342, according to the state health bulletin this Monday (21).
In addition, with the promotion of the new BQ 1.1 variant in the state, five patients in different cities were diagnosed with the strain: Camboriu (1), Florianopolis (2), San José (1) and Joinville (1).
The emergence of a possible new wave in the country has led the Ministry of Health, the Minister of Health of Santa Catarina and the municipality of Florianopolis to again recommend the use of a mask.

Nekat notes that since the second half of October, the average weekly number of positive people has again increased significantly, especially in the analyzed week.
“It is noteworthy that the average recorded over the last week (383 people tested positive per day) is close to the last week of June/22, the period when the small wave infections (May and June/22) began to decline. retreat,” he explains to his studies.
“This means that in the coming periods, the scenario is a continued increase in cases in the state, both in terms of new cases and active cases,” emphasizes the core.
Compared to last year, the number of patients with the condition is lower, according to state government data. There were 733,453 thousand cases against 624,803 this year. Already in 2020, their number reached 536,922.
However, according to the Epidemiological Bulletin, the death rate remains at 1.18%, with 22,436 people dying of coronavirus so far this Monday, five more than last Sunday (20). The age group in which mortality is concentrated is from 70 to 79 years, 5611 records. Overall, more men died from the disease (57.5%) than women (42.5%).
The number of occupied beds in the intensive care unit reaches 87.9%, which adds cases of Covid-19 and other diseases. Currently, only 13 patients with the disease (1.1%). Only 141 beds are available.
