The Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness and Prevention Campaign in Florianopolis kicks off this Saturday (8) with the Floripa Rosa Walk organized by City Hall in partnership with clinics, hospitals and businesses in the city.
The movement aims to gather all those interested in entering the Parque da Luz, at the beginning of the Hercilio Luz bridge, starting at 8:00 am, for a walk in the Parc de Coqueiros on the mainland, where there will be a picnic and a special program in during the day.
“The various initiatives that we are going to promote for the health of women in October are aimed at making them understand the importance of preventing breast and cervical cancer and taking care of themselves more and more. We hope to have a large audience on Saturday and have a great outreach event,” said Florianopolis Mayor Topazio Neto.
On site, a range of medical services will be offered to the population, such as blood pressure and blood glucose measurements, as well as psychological and dietary assistance. There will also be a vaccination bus at Parque de Coqueiros for those who wish to renew their card.
In addition to medical services, leisure, health and legal events will be advertised free of charge until 4:00 pm.

Santa Catarina wins breast reconstruction surgery
Cepon (Center for Cancer Research) also prepared a program for October Rosa. The department’s surgical mastology service will help patients who have already undergone surgical treatment of cancer, but need additional procedures. The forecast is to serve ten women during October.
“This target group will serve patients who need to continue with breast reconstruction, as all patients already have procedures at least started during the first operation,” says Cepon CEO, Dr. Marcelo Zanchet.
The operations will be funded by the SES (State Department of Health) management contract with Fahece (Fundação de Apoio ao Hemosc/Cepon). Breast augmentators and prostheses will be purchased with funds donated by EBE (ENGIE Brasil Energia) and MPT-SC (Santa Catarina Ministry of Labor).
According to EBE Social Responsibility Manager Luciana Pedro, the donations were made as part of an action in partnership with the Ronald McDonald Institute under the Partnership for Good program.
“We chose Cepon as the beneficiary institution because it is a public hospital that is a benchmark in the treatment of cancer patients living in Santa Catarina,” he emphasizes.
