The Pink October program of Amucc (Brazilian Association of Cancer Vectors) starts this Friday (30th) in Florianopolis. This year’s campaign slogan is “A Gente Se Cuida”.

Several face-to-face and virtual events are planned to make women aware of the importance of early detection of breast and cervical cancer.

“The focus of the campaign is on the importance of taking care of yourself and others, including physical, emotional, spiritual and social well-being,” stresses Yurema Santos, coordinator of October Rosa in Florianopolis.

Renowned visual artist Luciano Martins once again signs the campaign’s official T-shirt, which costs 40 reais and can be purchased from the public market and from the official October Rosa store in Floripa stores.

For the second edition and in partnership with UNACCAM (Union and Support against Breast Cancer), one of the events planned for this year is the “UNACCAM+Saúde Com Elas e Por Elas no Pink October Challenge”.

The sports competition will be virtual with walking, running and cycling for the health of all breast cancer patients. The idea is to educate the public about the importance of exercise and a healthy lifestyle for quality of life.

The event also aims to involve family, friends and people in a common cause, bringing men closer to the campaign to spread the word to everyone.

Amucc will be represented by breast cancer survivor Thiel Passos. Registration for the competition is open until October 14, and resource proceeds from partner and sponsorship registrations will be used to complete the diagnosis of breast cancer patients.

Donation of scarves and hair

In partnership with Amucc, during October, Floripa Shopping will be a collection point for handkerchiefs and personal care products.

Anyone who wants to participate must make a donation by October 31st. All collected material will be transferred to the Cancer Research Center (Tsepon) and the Children’s Hospital.

Scarves should be the perfect size to cover your entire head and be in good condition.

Another initiative aimed at saving women’s self-respect will be the donation of hair to a wig bank. The action, titled “You don’t get out of your head,” will run through partnerships with the city’s beauty salons, as well as directly to Amucc.

15/10: “Juntas Somos Rosa” event at Girondina Medeiros Zeferino school, Ingleses district, from 13:30 to 16:30;

from 15.10 to 31.10: period of the digital race “Com Elas e Por Elas”

22.10: task force on breast reconstruction surgery for women who have had their breasts removed due to cancer;

24.10: show “October Rose” with Coral Vozes de Santa Catarina at Floripa Shopping at 19:30;

from 26 to 29/10: the campaign lives on @amuccfloripa

31.10: final mass and concert of the campaign with Coral Vozes de Santa Catarina in Florianópolis Cathedral, starting at 18:00.
