The members of the initiative, promoted by the Department of Development and Social Inclusion, spent five days in a house in the Estaleirinho area of Balneario Camboriu, focusing entirely on the process of losing weight.
This Wednesday (21) at the Emotional Intelligence Center of Casa da Família, a new weigh-in was carried out, as a result of which a total of 97 kilograms were lost during the “reality”.
The participants went through a routine that included physical activity, dietary re-education, group dynamics, medical and psychological care.
The goal of the Lose to Win campaign is to combat obesity in the municipality by promoting a healthy lifestyle.
“We look at their data before and after the lockdown to see the loss of each and the total amount. In general, the losses were significant,” explains Alba Cristina Sobreira Garcia, responsible for physical activity.
Dietitian Laura Bragio says the participants followed a ketogenic diet based on fats and zero carbs during lockdown. After the end of self-isolation, a hypocaloric diet is introduced.
Volunteer Cristian da Rosa Ribas do Carmo, one of the participants in the program, talks about the progress of her numbers since the beginning of the journey. “I was 105 kg, now I weigh 98.60 kg. After that, I will continue, as we have until December to close in a big way,” he comments.
Elian Ferraz, administrative assistant for the Department of Development and Social Inclusion, says she was surprised when she stepped on the scales. “When I started the program, I weighed 109.7 kg, now he weighs 101,750 kg,” he says.
Participants will continue supervision and specialists, physical activity and food re-education after the end of the lockdown.
Minister for Development and Social Inclusion Cristina Barichello says she is pleased with the results of the program. “It’s a winning streak. They improve their health and quality of life, and we provide it for them,” he concludes.
