I’m here thinking about how much we still need the opinion of others here in Floripa to value ourselves. Was it in the NY Times? So it’s right! Now yes! Did the gringo site take us to the top of the rankings? Oh Florida!

Do we need someone to come and say that we have the most beautiful and interesting people in the world, if we can prove it with a conversation in a bar or on a fishing farm?

Let Floripa stop depending on someone else’s opinion. That those who come from outside, who bring “progress” are always right. Of course, we want to attack, but for this we need to go at the same pace, and not exchange shots and barbs.

To do this, we do not need to raise weapons. Just cast the net, beat your chest, sing Rancho do Amor à Ilha, celebrate life with those you love, greet those who respect us. And there’s a carcass if the goblets come and lay us down.

Let’s also stop finding food from other places better. It’s not that I don’t like Mexican, Peruvian, Mineira and Pernambucan food. But saying that “Manesinho has only one simple dish – porridge with fried fish” has two problems.

First, to ignore our painful past based on fishing and agriculture. And so it remained almost two centuries almost unchanged.

Secondly, to disprove the fact that we have great local chefs, some of whom go to sea to catch the fish they are going to cook and travel the world to teach what they cook and eat here.

Let’s not depend on stories coming from outside, like Halloween, because we already have our witches, in Itaguazu and in the legends of Franklin Casquez.

Let’s reverse the logic and stop calling the island of Campeche the Caribbean Sea in Floripa, and call the Caribbean Sea Campeche in Central America. Let California be the Tavares River in the States and Parque da Luz be the inspiration for Central Park in New York.
