The child’s mother oversees the procedures in Florianopolis. The child’s father is in Boa Vista, in Roraima, trying to get to Santa Catarina. The body must be transported to Kasador, where the family lives.
Violence
The caregivers, aged 19 and 21, were arrested last Monday (aged 18) on suspicion of physically assaulting a child. The child was taken to the emergency room of Maice Hospital in Cásadora with several body injuries and cardiac arrest.
According to civil police delegate Fabiano Locatelli, the boy’s health condition was regarded as quite serious. The spouses were responsible for caring for the child while the mother worked. They received a monthly payment for the care of the infant and had no family ties to the victim. The boy’s mother is Venezuelan. My father too, but lives in another state,” said the delegate.
She said she left her son with the couple around 10:20 am and that she received a call at 2:00 pm. During the conversation, the suspect said that she took the child to the Meise hospital, as he would have breathing problems.
Forensic report
The civil police said that an expert report prepared by the coroner indicated the presence of injuries to the brain and body consistent with the practice of “shaking the baby.”
This practice is known as shaken baby syndrome, which occurs when an adult violently shakes a child, causing severe brain damage. The report also listed injuries to the face, head, back, and buttocks.
Also, according to the delegate, the investigation also established that the spouses looked after other children, but there is no information about other victims.
preventive detention
A 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old girl were caught red-handed. He was taken to the Cásador men’s prison, and the woman was taken to the Chapeco women’s prison.

The couple was charged with grievous bodily harm under the provisions of the Henry Borel Law (Law No. 14.344/2022), approved on May 24, establishing mechanisms to prevent and counter violence. children and teenagers.
controversy
Transporting an infant to a capital hospital, among other things, is controversial. The state government said it had not received requests for air transport, and MPs said the plane was being used for “political purposes”.
The complaint came from MPs Bruno Sousa (Novo) and Jesse Lopez (PL) during a meeting in Alesca (State Legislative Assembly of Santa Catarina) this Wednesday (20). The state government quickly denied the allegations, calling them fake news.
