A second case of monkeypox (monkeypox) was confirmed in Santa Catarina in ND+ this Saturday afternoon (16). According to DIVE (Directorate of Health Supervision of Santa Catarina), the confirmation came from a man from Leoberto Leal.

A 31-year-old man developed a fever and pustular lesions on his head, neck, and upper limbs on July 6. According to Dave, he traveled through the Midwest and Southeast of Brazil. The folder also said that he was hospitalized and that “his condition is improving.”

This case is monitored by the epidemiological surveillance of the municipality and the state. Contacts were also traced and are still under surveillance.

Eight cases of monkeypox have already been ruled out in Santa Catarina. One remains under investigation and two have been confirmed. The first confirmed case was in Florianopolis: a 40-year-old man from Sao Paulo. He recently spent time in Spain. After that, he spent several days in Florianopolis.
