The façade is white, the clothes are white: the brilliance and whiteness of marble is enlivened by the art of the corset, wide hand-embroidered skirts and sumptuous headdresses. Putti are symbolic, whose faces, as if carved from stone, define the silhouette of a sheath dress.just at shoulder height: 100% handmade from horsehair and wadding, the two cherubs are shaped by micro-drapes and tiny petals sewn and ironed directly onto the dress itself.
Along with the more decorative expression of white and the more voluminous and rich red, yellow and black, two italian creatives indulge in experiments with lace – an iconic fabric in the signature style of Dolce & Gabbana – to create embroidery, which, in turn, refers to the facades of buildings in the Baroque style. Scallops, swirls and leaves come to life on the dresses. Emblematic in the collection is also one gold-coloured lurex hood, a tribute to the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament of Syracuse Cathedral, which, thanks to 3D chiaroscuro effects, creates a powerful visual result consisting of flowers, cherubs and the rays of the tabernacle. The sculptured flowers – more than 380 pieces, including leaves – are finally presented as precious floral high reliefs on a candy-pink cap.
