‘Wonders’: Director Reveals Final Fantasy VII Was One of the Film’s Visual Inspirations
Nia DaCosta has proven herself to be a top-notch nerd.
Miracles It premieres this Thursday (9) and promises to present a harmonious mix of humor and action. In an interview at a party dedicated to the film’s premiere, Las Vegasdirector Nia DaCosta said that animation was a big inspiration for creating the image of the fights in the film Final Fantasy VIIclassic game from Enix Square.
According to DaCosta, the film Final Fantasy VII: Children of Adventtelling a story set years after the end of the game, served as the basis for convincing producers at Marvel Studios of the tone their Captain Marvel film should take.
“One of my references when I was selling the story of the film was Advent Children.” Some scenes from this because it’s just incredible. It’s an incredible movie, it has great action scenes, there’s a great final sequence where the main character is thrown into the sky by all the other characters.” explains DaCosta.
The director admitted that he is an excellent player. But despite the love for cinematic games such as Last of us This Horizon: Zero DawnDaCosta stated that he never wanted his film to feel like a video game, but rather wanted it to capture the unique energy that makes people fall in love with action games.
“For me, the best games and the best stories you can find are the ones that inspire me to play and the ones that inspire people to watch movies like this.” says the director.
